Civil Court

A civil case is an action between parties seeking an impartial settlement of a dispute. A business or agency can also file a case in civil court or be sued in civil court. If someone loses a case in civil court, that person may be ordered to pay money to the other side or return property.

Small Claims

The Small Claims Court of Walker County is a part of Walker County’s District Court where individuals and businesses can settle legal disputes involving $6,000 or less. There are no juries and, parties may represent themselves. To file or defend a case in small claims court, an individual must be at least 19 years old, or legally emancipated.
